The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative, Inc. (CT BHI), a state-wide non-profit makes a significant impact in the quest to find a cure for breast cancer by providing grants to support education and research in Connecticut. Founded in 2004, it has been our goal to find answers in our lifetime.

Over the past few years, Connecticut has been ranked 35th in the nation for breast cancer mortality and ranked 2nd in the nation for breast cancer incidences. For a state of our size, this presents a huge challenge. This is why 100% of the money raised in Connecticut by CT BHI stays in-state in support of education and research, funding progressive programs that have yet to qualify for federal grants. To date, CT BHI has awarded over $3.1 million in grants through the help of our generous donors, supporters and sponsors.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Over 211,000 new cases will be diagnosed each year in the United States. Approximately 40,000 women are expected to die from breast cancer each year and yet there are more than two million breast cancer survivors in the United States. We are getting closer to our goal of finding a cure but our work is not done.
