In 14 years, the Howard H. Belkin Memorial Golf Tournament has raised approximately $390,000 for breast cancer education and research in Connecticut.

Every year, the CT Breast Health Initiative remembers its founding chairman Howard H. Belkin for his spirit and unwavering desire to find a cure for breast cancer. Howard was a local attorney, State of CT Worker’s Compensation Commissioner, political activist, husband, father, grandfather, joke teller extraordinaire and avid golfer. It was his dream to use his love of golf to raise monies for the statewide work of the CT Breast Health Initiative, Inc. by creating an annual tournament at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club, on his favorite golf course.

The Shuttle Meadow Golf Course, designed by renowned architect and twice British Open Champion, Willie Park Jr., was recognized by Golfweek Magazine as one of America’s 2014 best classic courses. Achieving national recognition among America’s elite golf courses is a tribute to the unique qualities of this historic course.

We appreciate all who participate and use their love of golf to raise monies for the statewide work of the CT Breast Health Initiative.

The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative has one goal. One desire. To help find a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.

Connecticut is ranked 2nd in the nation in breast cancer incidence rate and 11th in mortality. For a small state, that is a huge challenge.

That is why we have focused all of our considerable energy and resources on education and research... funding forward-thinking programs that have yet to qualify for federal grants.

And we are doing it where it matters most... right here at home.

Let’s make this 15th year the biggest and fulfill Howard’s dream!
